After media attention around pressures on maternity services in the Hutt Valley a Public Meeting was called by local Labour MP Ginny Anderson.
The meeting was well attended and the audience heard directly from midwife representatives, a DHB board member, Julie Anne Genter and future HMAT board member Meg Waghorn (sharing stories on behalf of mothers).

The meeting was a very intense outpouring of concern and stress. Despite being an emotional and at times distressing event, it was great to see how deeply our community felt about these issues. Community members took to their feet in frustration wanting to support maternity staff to care for our birthing women.
